ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE 2020/2021 SEASON

Expressing a pleasure that concert life is being restarted, Maestro Ivo Pogorelich is pleased to announce his schedule in the upcoming 2020/2021 Season.

During the next season, Maestro Pogorelich continues to perform on numerous stages throughout Europe and the Far East, as part of regular concert cycles, as well as on music festivals. In addition to his regular annual performances on the stages of Paris, Berlin, Munich, Madrid, Zurich, Tokyo and other world major music centres to which he returns with a new recital programme, Pogorelich will make also the comebacks to Athens and Istanbul, as well as after many years in Taiwan.

Within the schedule, Maestro Pogorelich will be a guest on some of the most prestigious musical festivals in Europe such as Chopin Festival in Warsaw, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Emilia Romagna Festival, and Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival with a recital at Elbphilharmonie.

For the upcoming 2020/2021 Season, Maestro Pogorelich has prepeared a recital programme entirely devoted to the music of Frédéric Chopin. The programme will include Three Mazurkas Op. 59 which he previously performed at Chopin Competition back in 1980, as well as the grandiose Piano Sonata No. 3 – one of the amblematic works of his piano repertoire, which he recorded for Deutsche Grammophon’s 1987 video album. In addition to these works, for the first time Maestro Pogorelich will play Chopin’s late mesterpieces – Berceuse op. 57, Fantaisie Op. 49, as well as Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61.

As a soloist with orchestra, he continues a pianistic journey with Piano Concerto No. 2 by Frédéric Chopin, Piano Concerto No. 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, but also after many years he will give his new readings of Piano Concerto No. 3 by Sergei Prokofiev.
