IVO POGORELICH AT HEFERER FESTIVAL

As a guest of the 27th edition of the Heferer Organ Festival, Maestro Ivo Pogorelich gave the two recitals held on the 17th & 18th of August at Parish Church of St. John the Baptist in Zagreb, Croatia. 

At the sumptuous interior of late baroque-classicist sacral object that represents a protected cultural asset of Croatia, Maestro Pogorelich gave his premier of Franz Schubert’s Moments Musicaux op. 94 which he included in the repertoire for the first time in his career. In adition to these Schubert’s masterpicies, he played also Frédéric Chopin’s Fantaisie op. 49, two Nocturnes op. 48, no. 2 & op. 62, no. 2, as well as Sonata No. 3, op. 58.

The concert was a gift of Maestro Pogorelich to the Festival but also his intimate commemoration to 170 years (to be precise 172 years) of music that passed through the hands of The first Croatian Builders of Organs, Harmoniums and Pianos, and almost half a century of friendly and professional cooperation with the Faullend Heferer family.

Among a many distinguished guests, the concerts were attended by the Mayor of Zagreb Mr. Tomislav Tomašević, the Minister of Culture of Republic of Croatia Mrs. Nina Obuljen Koržinek and the former President of Republic of Croatia Mr. Ivo Josipović.

After these performances, Maestro Ivo Pogorelich travels to Hamburg, Germany, where he will give a recital at Elbphilharmonie, as a part od Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.
