MAESTRO POGORELICH ON THE EUROPEAN STAGES IN MAY & JUNE

— 20 May 2021

During May and June, Maestro Ivo Pogorelich will give a series of concerts on the stages of Italy, Spain, Belgium and Poland. The return to the concert scene after the lockdown caused by the Pandemic will be marked by the promotion of the new recital programme entirely dedicated to the music of Frédéric Chopin.

The programme will include Three Mazurkas Op. 59 which he previously performed at Chopin Competition back in 1980, as well as the grandiose Piano Sonata No. 3, Op. 58 – one of the amblematic works of his piano repertoire, which he recorded for Deutsche Grammophon’s 1987 video album. In addition to these works, for the first time Maestro Pogorelich will play Chopin’s late mesterpieces – Berceuse op. 57, Fantaisie Op. 49, as well as Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61.

After a successful performance at the Teatro Rossini in Pesaro, Italy on May 15th, Maestro Pogorelich arrives in Spain where he will give two concerts –  in Reus on May 21st, and Alicante on May 24th. The recital in Liège, Belgium is scheduled for May 31st, followed by a return to Spain for the three more recitals in Girona (June 3rd), then in Ávila (at the International Music Festival on June 5th), and in Zaragoza (June 7th). A short tour of the Southern Italy will be marked by concerts at the famous Teatro Petruzzeli in Bari on June 10th, followed by recitals in Vibo Valentia (June 11th), as well as in Messina, in Sicily (June 12th).

A series of concerts this spring will conclude the performance at the Philharmionic Hall in Rzeszów, Poland on June 22nd.
